We wanted to say farewell to the WEC! One of my MMA highlights was sitting ringside in press row for the Faber v. Pulver fight..man that was a war and both guys were so cool to meet. And this guy Pettis..what do you say to that..UNREAL.. hats off to Henderson as well for fighting like a demon. We at OTM have been following him and he is talented though the roof, which just makes what Pettis does even more amazing...Henderson will probably get better (scary) and then this could be one of those I-II-III ultra thriller rivalries!

What are you watching?

So like most MMA fanatics (us included) you will most likely have the DVR working OT or wheeling out the kids TV so you can watch both the Ultimate Finale and Strikeforce. But let's just say you could only watch one? Which would it be? The American Pyscho V. the guy whose name I don't how to say or spell or Dan Henderson V. Babalu? I like Bonnar I think he is given a lot of latitude for his epic battle with Griffin....fair enough.This smells like a gimme to keep him relavent. Hendo is a legend but the tread maybe wearing down, can someone remind me what was so awesome about Babalu? Those facts alone make it compelling on some level. Bonnar loses then what? Henderson has lost just enough to make this one a monster battle and gives rise to a re-match. Not sure. But hells bells I will be watching both as happy as my boys at Christmas.
By the way the new TCB walk-out shirts are in and we Built to fight gloves at a great price for you to get your hands together in training. Form Athletics has shipped us some great training shorts and we are adding Gi lines all this month so you have selection. Yes everything we do is for our OTM faithful here in the Bay...SUPPORT THE SPORT!!! Or go play golf....

Jiu Jitsu for the Holidayz!!

MMA is the greatest sport in the world...right? And we at OTM have respect for all fighting styles, basically if you fight we support you. But the genesis of MMA is in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Its a fair argument it's the one prinicpal you have to at the very least know how to defend. If you don't your career is going to be short. The sport is getting very complex and more and more sophisticated, even the fans, for the first time that I can think of at UFC 122 I heard a loud chorus of boos for a stand up. The fans actually did not like the break, they felt that one guy was advancing toward a submission position! 2 or 3 years ago as soon as they went to the ground there was a good chance you hear boos.
We at OTM have seen an explosion of guys coming in to get Gi's and rash guards for Jiu-Jitsu, alot of them ex- wrestlers and boxers. This a great sign for the sport of Jiu-Jitsu. We are gearing up for some exciting things for you Jiu-JItsu freaks (we count are selfs as those freaks) so keep checking in I think you will be as excited as we are.

THANKSGIVING MMA!

It's been a crazy week down on the wharf! We're fighting the good fight and training like dogs. But we are thankful for an awful lot this time of year!
Most of all we are Thankful for you the customers! Yeah its cool to be able to talk MMA gear all day and watch and talk about MMA, get some freebies like tickets to the UFC meet, Anderson Silva..Mike Swick....Jason "Mayem" Miller all who have come in to our shop and countless others. But you guys are the best. We love showing a newbie some cool gear and then find he sticks with it and he is addicted to the sport like we are. Then there is the vet who usually thinks he has seen it all and we show him something that makes his life better or turn his kids onto the sport. Thats what gets us geeked and makes coming in here worth it!! So we are thankful for you!

UFC 119! Where are you?

Today is the day....UFC 119....normally this place is packed....you come and get your gear we talk the fights....my staff and I give our inaccurate, insane wildly bias predictions...we argue...we talk about training.....we all go home safe and watch the fights. Only a few of you came in today, is it too hot?

Train Hard Fight Hard Party Hard...what does all this mean?

It's pretty simple...if all three line-up in a perfect world then each will be sweeter in turn. You know the feeling after you trained for 90 minutes and your sitting against the wall, the world is good. We have been told by MMA fighters that the feeling after a fight is religious, the feeling is the same for some fighters even if they lost but fought as hard as they could in a war. And well we have been at some UFC post fight parties and your imagination if you haven't been to one can fill in the blanks easily. I think Frankie Edgar exemplifies the term, so here's to you Frankie Edgar from OTM FIGHT SHOP SF...TRAIN HARD, FIGHT HARD, PARTY HARD!
